Whether you're down on your luck, poor in spirit, escaping abuse, or paying the consequences of sin, God loves you just as you are... but He doesn't want to leave you there. That's why everyone's welcome at the Turning Point!

Our Story: Past, Present & Future

In July of 2019 the spirit of God led Kevin Dale and Greg Clay to begin a discipleship study on the southside of Durant at the home of Bubba and Heather Smith. Prior to their arrival, beginning in January of 2019, Bubba and his friend Jay Karsey had been praying for God to send someone to teach them, and the request was an answer to their prayers. From a small discipleship group of seven, to a worship assembly of 60 – 120 on any given Sunday night, God has continued to draw hearts to what is now called the Turning Point. Almost 1,200 different people have attended the Turning Point. Teaching a central message that Jesus is the Christ, the son of living God, and a theme that he takes you where you are, but loves you too much to leave you there, visitors continue coming every week.

Besides the central message of Jesus, the Durant Turning Point Mission (a non-profit religious based organization) also believes God has given them a secondary goal of bringing unity to believers and disciples of Jesus throughout the area. Serving a meal every week, followed by a worship assembly, many different small groups, discipleship groups, and churches across many denominational lines have unified to show the love of Christ, among all social classes of individuals in Texoma.

Besides providing a warm meal to anyone in need on Sunday evenings, the Turning Point also uses funds collected from regular attenders to provide clothing, assist with utility bills and rent and provide groceries to keep anyone from going hungry. In addition, God continues opening doors and most recently provided a door for the Turning Point Mission board to organize a bible study each Sunday evening at the new Feeding Hope food kitchen on the corner of 5th and east Florida street in Durant. Expanding their opportunity to introduce individuals to Jesus, and to disciple them in his way of living, members of the Turning Point consider it a joy to be used for Kingdom service.

If you, or someone you know would like to attend the Turning Point assembly on Sunday evenings and need a ride please contact David Kautt at (580) 380-2901.

Sunday evening meetings begin at 5:00 throughout the winter with meeting times expanding to begin at 7:00 during the summer months.

How It Started

In July of 2019, the spirit of God led Kevin Dale and Greg Clay to begin a discipleship study on the southside of Durant at the home of Bubba and Heather Smith. Prior to their arrival, beginning in January of 2019, Bubba and his friend Jay Cherry had been praying for God to send someone to teach them, and the request was an answer to their prayers. From a small discipleship group of seven, to a general assembly of over 50 on any given Sunday night, God has continued to draw hearts to what is now called the Turning Point. Almost 1,200 different people have attended the Turning Point. Teaching a central message that Jesus is the Christ, son of the living God, and a theme that He takes you where you are, but loves you too much to leave you there, visitors continue coming every week.

A Common Love
